The details

Funded by the Alabama Education Trust Fund each fiscal year. For Alabama-licensed RNs admitted to an accredited graduate nursing program (master's or doctorate, including DNP/PhD) in Alabama, with at least two semesters left, enrolling in 6+ hours for two consecutive semesters in the funded year. Maximum $10,000; ABN's flyer says the average award was $3,806.23 in FY22-FY24, and the Board sets the number and size of awards at its November meeting. Funds are paid directly to the student and may cover school costs or educational loans. Recipients sign a promissory note and must work in Alabama as a professional nurse or nursing instructor for two years after the graduate degree (24 months), verifying employment every six months; otherwise the money is repaid to the State Treasury and the RN license can be disciplined. Each scholarship carries its own consecutive two-year obligation; you may re-apply in later years. ABN has no undergraduate (e.g., ADN-to-BSN) scholarships.
