The details
Helps students who are well along in their program but have a financial aid gap: you must have completed at least 45% of a two-year-or-shorter program or 70% of a bachelor's program, and owe your college an outstanding balance of direct costs (tuition, fees, books, housing, meal plans, etc.) for the current term. Lifetime maximum $2,500 per program, applied to that balance. Colleges (USG, TCSG and eligible private nonprofits) decide who gets it from limited allocations; for FY2027 allocations are based on each college's share of Pell recipients.
