The details

For Kansas high school seniors designated State Scholars by KBOR: complete the Kansas Scholars Curriculum, take the ACT by December of senior year, and rank in roughly the top half (about 2,500 of ~5,000 completers) on an index combining ACT composite and 7th-semester GPA (2025 scholars averaged ACT 29, GPA 3.93). Counselors report completers to KBOR, typically February-April. Designated scholars may receive up to $1,000 a year ($500/semester) based on financial need and other scholarships, at an eligible Kansas college. Must enroll 12+ credit hours, keep a 3.0 cumulative college GPA and show need. Renewable for four undergraduate years (five in a designated five-year program); reapply each year.
