The details
Under RIGL 30-30.1-1, a veteran who is a permanent Rhode Island resident with a Department of Veterans Affairs service-connected disability rating from 10% to 100% can take courses at CCRI, RIC or URI without paying tuition. Fees, books and other charges are not covered. Veterans eligible for financial aid must apply for it (file the FAFSA), and grants and scholarships are applied to tuition first, reducing the waiver. Waiver users register at the start of open registration (including priority registration where granted for disability status); for competitive programs, normal admission criteria still apply.
