The details
Need-based grant for Wisconsin-resident undergraduates in degree or certificate programs at Universities of Wisconsin (UW System) campuses. Awards are based on financial need (Student Aid Index) and enrollment and are prorated for full-time (12+ credits), three-quarter-time (9-11), half-time (6-8) and less-than-half-time (5 or fewer) enrollment. Eligibility cannot exceed ten semesters. HEAB sets minimum and maximum awards each year; the 2026-27 formula is: ($9,250 - SAI) x 40% = award, maximum $3,700. A second tier ($1,000 for an SAI of $6,751 to $10,000) is paid only if funds are available.
