The details

A refundable Colorado income tax credit that reimburses the tuition and fees you paid out of pocket (after scholarships, grants and institutional aid; loan-paid amounts count) for up to the first 65 college credits at any Colorado public college, community college, area technical college or local district college. Credits earned in high school (concurrent enrollment/ASCENT, AP, IB) and military credit don't count toward the 65. Each term you must start with fewer than 66 credits, complete at least 6 credits and earn a term GPA of 2.5+. Your college determines eligibility and notifies you by January 31 of the credit amount for the prior calendar year; the student (not a parent) claims it by filing a Colorado income tax return. Works alongside college-specific promise programs.
