The details
A loan-scholarship: recipients sign a promissory note agreeing to teach for at least two consecutive years in a Tennessee public K-12 school in a targeted setting, meaning a distressed or at-risk county or a critical-shortage subject area set by the Department of Education. Completing the service cancels the obligation; otherwise it must be repaid. $1,750 per semester, up to $3,500 per academic year. Requires admission and at least half-time enrollment in an approved educator preparation program (EPP) as a junior, senior or post-baccalaureate student. Ends at the EPP degree, if EPP standards are no longer met, or three years after first funding. Targeted-setting lists are published by year (2026-27 list on the program page).
