The details
Made up of the Higher Education Award and the Freedom of Choice Award; applies to tuition and regularly assessed fees. 2026-27 amounts depend on your Student Aid Index (SAI, from -1500 up to 7,000) and school type. 'On-time' maximums (SAI -1500): private $10,600; public (except Ivy Tech) $5,300; proprietary or Ivy Tech $4,050. 'Full-time' maximums: $7,700 private, $3,850 public, $2,900 proprietary/Ivy Tech. First-year students get the on-time amount; to renew at the on-time amount you must complete 30 credit hours in the award year (24-29 credits gives the smaller full-time amount). AP/IB/dual credit can count toward credit completion. Full-time enrollment required (part-time summer use possible in some cases). For an associate or first bachelor's degree, or a certificate at Ivy Tech or Vincennes. Can be paired with Fast Track for extra aid in the same year.
