The details
Pennsylvania's main need-based grant. Award depends on family finances, the type of school attended and state funding; the formula is set each year after the Commonwealth budget passes. Maximum 2026-27 award is $6,000 for qualifying students at Pennsylvania schools. At schools outside PA the maximum is $600 in a 'portable'/reciprocal state, or $800 for students who meet the program's definition of a U.S. armed forces veteran. Renewable each year you show need and make satisfactory academic progress; by law no student may receive more than 4 academic-year awards (associate-degree students are typically limited to 2). A Summer PA State Grant is also available for summer terms (application in GrantUs by September 1; counts toward the award limit).
