The details
Cooperative medical education program between the University of Washington School of Medicine and Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Funded Montana students complete the first 18 months at MSU Bozeman; after that Montana pays support equal to the difference between out-of-state and in-state tuition (including fees tied to cost of education). Includes an optional TRUST rural/underserved track. Students must sign a contract before enrolling: either commit to return and practice medicine full time in Montana for at least 3 years within 1 year of finishing training (paying the standard annual MRPIP fee), or decline to commit and pay the MRPIP fee at 2.5 times the standard rate. If a 'return' contract student doesn't return, all state support (about $179,290) becomes a loan to repay.
